A WEEKEND IN THE COUNTRYSIDE

Hello! I haven't blogged for a little while. Not because I didn't want to, but because James' computer is busted and he has been using mine a fair bit (for work he claims ;o)) but I had to snatch it back to write a little bit about our recent weekend away, since it was just so lovely...

So for the long Easter weekend, my Dad booked this amazing cottage in Suffolk (technically it was in north Essex but the address said suffolk) in a teeny tiny hamlet called Great Henny. It was so secluded, you would never ever stumble upon it, and it was just perfect for a weekend away with the family. There was so much space for Beau and Ivy to roam around and we all had such a nice time.  The property was called Sheepcote Farm, in case you're interested.

We headed up there around lunchtime on the Friday, and in all honesty, we did very little in the way of venturing out until we came home on Monday afternoon. Here are some snaps from our time spent mooching around the farm:

This was the view from my bed. You can't see it so much in photos but this house was so crooked! It was a very old, listed building and in one of the rooms upstairs there was an actual hill, which Beau & Ivy spent a lot of time running up and down saying "Run UP the big hill, run DOWN the big hill" and if Beau said to me "Mummy, this house is very wobbly" once, he said it a hundred times :o)

Beau & "Toodles" who is my older brother Nick's girlfriend (real name: Anna :o))

The babies doing the country bumpkin dance in their hats they found

Beau & Granddad playing on the slide

The Climbing frame was cool but in need of a little tlc...let's just say you felt like you needed a good wash after playing on it

Beau schooling Pat on the football pitch

Being Easter, A LOT of chocolate was consumed by all :o)

We did actually make it past the driveway on the Saturday and had a brief wander around the waterfront in Ipswich before realising there wasn't much to see (read: it was a bit of a shit hole of a town)

Sheepy (Matt), Me, Beau and Matt's girlfriend Larissa

Nick, Toodles, Dad, Pat, Jim and Becs, probably discussing what a letdown Ipswich was :o)

The highlight of Ipswich was stopping for a coffee...see how excited Sheepy looks to be there...

Beau is trying to steal Larissa for himself...he has such a crush on her, it's the cutest

The kids had fun and I had visions of dislocated arms while Jim swung them around by the marina

I love this one of Beau & Ivy chasing each other around...too cute

We then went on to Jimmy's Farm (as seen on TV) and spent most of our time there in the restaurant as we were all pretty ravenous by the time we got there. If you ever happen to stop by for lunch, I highly recommend the pulled pork roll with stuffing and apple sauce, it was  t o  d i e  f o r

Miserable (hungry) Beau & Daddy

James, Beau & I. Not sure why my teeth look oddly bleached in this one, I assure you they're a regular shade of white :o)

This boy...those curls...

LOVE this one

Becs perusing the menu...pork, pork, or pork?! (There were other options, but when on a pig farm and all that)

Posing? Moi?? Love Ivy the Squoof

Spider-cow

These pygmy goats were hilarious. Did you know that goats have rectangular pupils (as in their eyes!)?? It's weird...

I felt so sorry for this ram. As you can see, his horns have completely grown over his eyes so he must be pretty much blind. He seemed to cope just fine but it tugged on my heart strings a little

The butterfly house was beautiful...see those cheeky two, top middle, having a "cuddle"? "At it like rabbits" should actually be "at it like butterflies" from what I saw...

This here is a reindeer...and here's my observation. Their back legs are bent in such a way that they can't help but poop and pee all over themselves every time. This poor fella was positively covered in his own crap. Now evolution...this needs work

And here are Sheepy and Rissa posing by the sign too. Ironically, considering it is mainly a pig farm (apparently) we saw zero pigs! But we had to cut the farm bit short as they were closing and we spent to long eating. I'm certain there were pigs as far as they eye could see if you did the whole tour :o)

So that's pretty much our Suffolk trip in a nutshell. We had a lovely time and can't wait to do it again soon.

Oh yeah, then the night we got back, Beau, the stair gate and I collided, and Beau broke his wrist...

Doh!! He has been such a brave boy though. He got a shiny new bright orange cast put on today and a little boy at the hospital who was dressed as superman (muscle suit and all) decided that Beau is Ironman. So that's pretty cool :o)

Over and out

xo

    1. Thanks TJ :o) He's coping remarkably well with his poorly arm, and has already used it as a weapon to hit me with so I'm guessing he's not in too much pain! Thanks so much for stopping for a read x
